The Convergence Academies Leadership Team is currently building a cadre of 10-16 creative technologists, designers, media artists and social media/digital literacy educators to help us implement the project beginning in September 2013.


Participation within the cadre can take various forms including:
· Collaboratively develop and teach 6-8 week residencies with classroom teachers
· Offer on-site digital support or consultancies with specific projects
· Plan and facilitate professional development for school staff


Specifically, we are looking for media artists/designers/educators experienced in creating art and media through:
· Emerging technologies and digital making (programmable art, creative coding, hacking, internet art, telematics, robotics, electronic modules)
· Screen-culture (photography, graphic design, Machinima, animation, digital comics, video/film etc.)
· Digital storytelling (narrative, documentary, diary, community, etc.)
· Digital and interactive journalism (illustrative journalism, blogs, digital maps, data visualization, Twitter)
· Social media for learning (VoiceThread, Instagram, Tumblr, YouTube, Soundcloud, Popcorn, etc.)
· Playable media (game design et al)
· Interactive sound design and digital audio production
· App and web design/development
· Transmedia and literacy (teaching writing through popular culture across disciplines and genres)
· Convergence and media literacy presenters (remix, news literacy, information fluency and race/class/culture studies)
· Design thinking and creative placemaking using digital tools

We are looking for generalists - those who have experience in multiple areas - as well as specialists. Artists with experience using media arts and digital tools to construct knowledge in areas of literacy/language arts, math, science and social studies will receive priority consideration.


Typical responsibilities for a residency include, but are not limited to the following:
· Coach teachers in how to understand and use media in their classrooms
· Create a written unit plan in partnership with the classroom teacher
· Facilitate 1-2 hours per week in the classroom for the duration of the residency
· Meet with partner teacher each week (and/or be available via email or phone for other planning as needed)
· Participate in monthly professional development and planning meetings
· Help to document and assess student learning
· Participate in summer institute professional development (August- five days- paid)
